Biography
Rachelle grew up in the sunshine of Colorado, spending equal parts of her childhood in different regions of the state—the western slope of the Rockies, the capital city of Denver and finally on a farm in Eastern Colorado.
Of all of these places, Rachelle’s experiences on the Eastern plains most profoundly shaped her interest and desire to pursue a career in natural medicine. On the farm, Rachelle had the opportunity to spend many hours outside, interacting with nature on a very personal level- learning the art of crop-growing, irrigation, and caring for animals. Here, she established a great connection with nature. This was her first inkling of what is meant by the powerful naturopathic principle, vis medicatrix naturae—the healing power of nature.
In college, Rachelle pursued a degree in the sciences and planned to attend medical school upon graduation. When she discovered Bastyr University in Seattle, WA—the nation’s leading institute of natural medicine—she was thrilled and intrigued to learn that the medical school was dedicated to training in natural and alternative modalities.
Between her undergraduate work and medical school, Rachelle took a year to work with youth at a summer camp in the Rocky Mountains and to travel to Central America. Upon return, she began her studies in naturopathic medicine and acupuncture and oriental medicine at Bastyr. Rachelle has found that blending her knowledge of biomedicine, naturopathic medicine, and Chinese medicine has created an extraordinary lens through which she can uniquely evaluate and assist each of her patients. Rachelle is passionate about employing the tenets of naturopathic medicine in every encounter - bestowing full confidence in the body’s innate wisdom to heal itself, and the importance of always utilizing the lowest force of intervention possible.
After completion of her residency in Seattle, Rachelle was thrilled to be invited to join the team of NaturoMedica doctors in Sammamish. It was her dream to work in a positive, friendly environment with a collaborative team who appreciated a balanced approach to medicine. In addition to being a naturopathic physician, Rachelle is also a licensed acupuncturist. She specializes in intravenous (IV) therapy as a means of supplementing micronutrients for individuals with significant deficiencies.
Rachelle lives in Seattle with her husband Jev. In their free time they have fun hiking, venturing to new islands, and exploring second-hand stores. They also enjoy making delicious and nourishing food at home. Rachelle likes to practice her Spanish-speaking skills at every opportunity. She is an avid skier and loves any excuse to be outdoors.
